What Should You Know About the Iraqi Kurds? Glenn Breaks It Down

What’s happening?

The Kurds of northern Iraq, an ethnic group mostly made up of Sunni Muslims, want to be their own country. Turkey, Iran and Iraq are looking into counter-measures against a planned Kurdish independence referendum because they see a Kurdish nation as a threat.

Is anyone on the Kurds’ side?

Just Israel. Even the U.S., a Kurdish ally, is opposing the referendum, saying the timing isn’t great, along with Turkey, Syria, Iran and Iraq.

Glenn’s take:

Glenn broke down who is truly on America’s side and who is guilty of aiding terrorism on Thursday’s “The Glenn Beck Radio Program.”

We all know that ISIS is bad. But Turkey, which claims to be a U.S. ally, has been letting terrorists slip into Syria. Iran isn’t necessarily considered an ally, but the U.S. has been aiding the Iraqi military.

“Supporting the Kurds became a unanimous catchphrase” during the 2016 election because they stand out in the Middle East, Glenn asserted. The Kurds have fought to defend Muslims, Christians and atheists alike and have endured human rights violations from the countries that oppose their independence.

“Out of all of the countries that I just mentioned, the Kurds, they’re the only good guys,” Glenn said.
