Social media post advertising FEMA inspector jobs is a scam

(WPSD) — FEMA needs all the help they can get down in Texas in the aftermath of Harvey.

The organization is hiring field inspectors to help assess damage there.

In fact, you may have seen a social media post prompting people to call an 888 number to ask about the job.

The ad says FEMA will pay $2,000 a week along with expenses.

Turns out those ads are fake.

FEMA says the 888 number is not legitimate and people should not call it.

Those who would like to apply to work temporarily as part of the Harvey response should apply online by clicking here.
