$13 Million Worth Of Wine Destroyed In Warehouse Fire

A fire at a wine warehouse in South West France destroyed over two million bottles of wine. The warehouse belonged to Sovex Grands Châteaux and was located in the Bordeaux region of France which is known for producing some the best and most expensive wines in the world.

Eighty employees were safely evacuated from the building while a team of nearly 60 firefighters worked to contain the massive blaze. After 15 hours they were finally able to put the flames out, but they were unable to save the wine.

Investigators believe the fire started in the ceiling, which then collapsed onto the pallets of wine stored below. The estimated value of the wine was around $13 million.

A video taken by an employee inside the warehouse captured the flames engulfing the pallets as he drove away from the fire in a forklift.
