Contractors Misspell 'School' in Florida Crosswalk

A road crew in Florida may need to hit the books after forgetting how to spell "SCHOOL" for a crosswalk in the city of Doral, located about 10 miles northwest of Miami.

Instead of "SCHOOL," contractors working for the city accidentally switched the 'O' and 'H' letters, resulting in the "SCOHOL" error at a crosswalk on Northwest 54th Street in Doral.

"It's not a good thing when you misspell school. It's not a good look. At all," one resident Maxwell Easter told WLPG.

It's unknown how long the misspelling languished on the crosswalk, but as you can imagine, once the image went viral, it didn't take long for city officials to respond. In a Twitter post sent Thursday afternoon, city officials wrote the contractor was notified and were "working expeditiously to correct" the error.

WLPG reported that by late Thursday night, the misspelling had been corrected.

Florida has been having a tough time with spelling lately. In March, a new sign erected by Florida's Department of Transportation accidentally misspelled the city of Fort Myers as "Ft. Meyer's."
