Abbott, State Agency Work To Provide Housing Assistance During Outbreak

Governor Greg Abbott and the state housing agency are working to bring financial housing assistance to Texans who need it during the coronavirus pandemic. Abbott waived statutes relating to the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development's HOME Investments Partnership program. The move gives the state more flexibility to use the program's funds to help certain people pay their rent. The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs sent a letter to HUD asking for federal waivers for reprogramming the funds.
