Abbott Suspends Elective Surgeries In 11 TX Trauma Service Areas

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is suspending elective surgeries in half of the state's 22 Trauma Service Areas. Abbott says the move frees up more medical resources for coronavirus patients. The directive includes hospitals in the Rio Grande Valley, along the Gulf Coast, and in part of Central Texas. Elective surgeries had already been suspended in San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, and Austin.
