Former Army Veteran Convicted In Plot To Bomb California Rally

A 28-year-old Army veteran has been convicted after plotting to bomb a white supremacist rally in California.

Mark Steven Domingo was found guilty on Wednesday of federal terrorism and weapons charges, and is now facing life in prison. Prosecutors say Domingo planned to bomb the 2019 Nazi rally as revenge for the New Zealand mosque shootings -- which had taken place one month earlier.

According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Central District of California, Domingo "expressed support for violent jihad, a desire to seek retribution for attacks against Muslims, and a willingness to become a martyr."

Thankfully, his plot was foiled by an undercover officer posing as his accomplice.

Domingo spent 16 months in the Army, including a 4-month stint in Afghanistan, but was discharged for committing an 'unspecified serious offense', according to Army officials.
