Texas-based Southwest May Get Billion-Dollar Compensation From Boeing

Hundreds Of Southwest Airlines Flights Canceled Since Last Week As Airline Deals With "Operational Emergency"

One industry analysis estimates that Southwest Airlines may receive more than a billion-dollars from Boeing to compensate for the grounding of the 737 Max. The two companies announced last month that they had reached a settlement concerning compensation for income the Dallas-based carrier lost in 2019 because of the grounding of the jet. The terms of the settlement haven't been made public. Southwest CEO Gary Kelly has said the airline lost 830-million-dollars in income last year because of the troubled Max.
