Texas Democratic leaders are expressing their approval of Joe Biden's choice of California Senator Kamala Harris as his running mate. State Senator Royce West of Dallas says Harris has relevant experience at the state and federal levels. Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis supported Harris's failed presidential run. His wife and Harris attended Howard University together. Carroll Robinson, chair of the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats, describes Harris as African-American, even though her parents are from Jamaica and India.
