Early voting begins today in the Lone Star State. Texans will go to the polls to vote on eight proposed amendments to the state Constitution. Among them is a ban on the state from prohibiting religious services anywhere in Texas, including places of worship. Another amendment would increase the years of law experience in Texas needed to be a judge candidate.

Austin residents will also give a verdict on two propositions. Prop A would increase police staffing and training in Austin, with opponents disapproving of the estimated 598-million dollar price tag over the next five years. Prob B would give the city approval to trade nine acres of public park land to a bidder for at least 48 acres of waterfront land that must be next to a current public park. Early voting ends on October 29th, with Election Day on November 2nd.
