Latino Rights Groups Sue Over Texas Redistricting Maps

More than a dozen groups are suing Texas Governor Greg Abbott over the state's new voting maps. Groups such as the League of United American Citizens, La Union del Pueblo Entero and others say the maps discriminate against Latino voters. Latinos make up 39.3% of the state's population, while Anglos make up 39.7%. But Monday's lawsuit claims Texas lawmakers deliberately packed some Latino voters into districts that already elect minority candidates, while breaking up other groups to fold them into conservative districts.
