The 29-year-old athlete from Kissimmee, Florida, qualified for the Olympics after the International Olympic Committee added breakdancing to the Youth Olympic Games.
Montalvo, who stands at 5'8", has been a prominent figure in the breakdancing scene, winning his first gold medal at the 2022 Birmingham World Games and his second at the 2023 Leuven World Championships. He is now aiming to become the first-ever male Olympic gold medalist in breakdancing at the 2024 Paris Games.
In an interview, Montalvo expressed his love for breakdancing, describing it as a mix of Kung Fu, gymnastics, and African and Indian dances. He also emphasized the importance of music and improvisation in his creative process, stating, "Breaking is not just about moves but it's about movement within the music. Basically, your body is like the instrument."
