Eight bulls escaped from their pen at a rodeo at the Emerald Square Mall in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, on Sunday (September 22) afternoon.
Authorities managed to wrangle one of the bulls shortly after it escaped, while the rest managed to get away and ran through the parking lot into nearby woods.
North Attleboro resident Chris Mooney told WBTS he was shocked to see the bulls running past his yard.
“As soon as I stepped out and I looked out there, I said those aren’t horses, those are literally bulls, and oh my god,” he told the news station. “Two of them were laying down, and another was budging the fence trying to get out, and the other ones were just sitting there.”
About four hours later, six of the bulls were located three miles away after getting stuck behind a fence on private property. The bulls were safely corralled into trailers and returned to the rodeo.
None of the bulls were injured during the escape.
North Attleboro Fire Chief Christopher Coleman said that one bull remains on the loose. He urged residents to be cautious if they see the bull. Coleman said community members should not approach the animal and instead call 911 immediately.
