The chairman of the Texas Democratic party is stepping down. Gilberto Hinojosa said in a statement that it's time for the party to "embrace the next generation of leaders" to take on President-elect Donald Trump. This week's landslide by Texas Republicans put pressure on the party to clean house. Trump won the state by 14 points, which was a larger margin than in the last two elections. At the same time, Democrats lost ground in the state legislature. The biggest surprise, though, was on the border. Republicans won in counties that have historically been Democratic strongholds.
