Everybody was waiting to see what happened last night as the National Anthem was played before Monday Night Football --in fact, ESPN broke from tradition and chose to air the anthem, which was sung by JORDIN SPARKS.Jordin also chose to made a statement while performing the anthem --although she did not kneel afterward, like RICO LaVELLE and MEGAN LINSEY did Sunday in Detroit and Nashville. But Jordin did make a statement with a bible verse --Proverbs 31:8-9-- written on the back of her hand. The verse refers to speaking for the oppressed: "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy."

Meanwhile, the entire Dallas Cowboys team --along with owner JERRY JONES-- kneeled down right before the national anthem Monday night, not in protest but in "unity." Jones has been clear in his belief that the flag should be respected and has repeatedly said that he appreciates that none of his players have decided to kneel during the anthem. The Arizona Cardinals interlocked their arms with members of the military during the anthem. As for the game, the Cowboys beat the Cardinals, 28-17, moving to 2-1 on the season with the win on the road.
