Did it have to come to this?
Local eateries who have been here, hired local, paid their taxes are competing for the food dollar. You can't compete if your competitor is giving away food, can you? I realize that folks needed food after the storm, but how long do you keep giving away food? Isin't this a bit like food stamps and other forms of welfare? Who's going to pay if you can get it for free down the street. That's tantamount to "why should I work when they will pay me to stay home?"
