Thursday Wrap...

The Kavanaugh Hearings yesterday..

Apparently, the U.S. Senator from New Jersey, Cory Booker, thinks American law is irredeemably evil because our founders were “misogynists” and “racists” and so we need judges who will change our laws, not judges who rule according to our laws.

What Supreme Court confirmation hearings should be about is an opportunity to go back and do Schoolhouse Rock civics for our kids. We should be talking about how a bill becomes a law and what the job of Article II is and what the job of Article III is.

I might as well strap this on too: If you are curious, read Federalist 78 by Alexander Hamilton about the role of the Judiciary. He explains the limited power of the Judiciary that has neither the purse nor the sword when it comes to making laws. Their task should be to interpret the laws and the Constitution. But with Congress failing to pass clearly-written laws, it's come down more and more to the Judicial Branch to sort things out. And anyone who suggests that they shouldn't be making policy is treated to the horror show that the Kavanaugh hearings have become.

Washington Examiner, "President Trump, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and House Speaker Paul Ryan have teamed up this summer to do something that hasn’t happened in two decades — write and pass department spending bills instead of lumping everything into a massive package."

First time in 20 years. Hmm. Wasn't that the last time we balanced a budget?

Under Clinton and Gingrich, spending bills were voted on one at a time, and eventually, federal spending was limited to federal revenues......

'Law & Order: Hate Crimes' is not a hoaxDeadline Hollywood reported, "As 'Law & Order: SVU' is heading into its record-tying 20th season, NBC is expanding the Law & Order franchise with a 13-episode order to 'Law & Order: Hate Crimes, from Law & Order' boss Dick Wolf."

Well good. I hope this series explores Hoax Hate Crimes.

There sure are plenty of them....You suppose there will be episodes based on Tawana Brawley and the Duke lacrosse team?

We have enough real crimes in America without wasting police time on fabrications.

---I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO NOT WATCHING...Law and Order SJW is heading into its 20th season...I wonder if there will be any episodes about "the Knockout Game"?...
