Safe Space, Safe House, Safe Thoughts...

I'm so dog-gone tired of hearing politicians say "keep America safe/keep American People safe" What in the hell do ANY of them know about "The American People?" How do the people who "feel unsafe" well, what are they comparing? Brisk walks in Afghanistan with 80 lbs of weapons, ammo and body armor? Are there roving bands of outlaws just waiting for you to leave the house? Do saber-toothed tigers hide in the bushes and wait for a school bus to stop? Rogue elephants running thru the neighborhoods? Drunk Cowhands, just off a cattle drive shooting up the town?

Maybe I carry personal responsibility of my family's safety a little too far. Do you?

Ever heard of WalletHub?

New report reveals the cities where you’ll be the safest....

WalletHub has just come out with their list of the Safest Cities in America, and they weren’t just looking at crime rates

The site judged 180 cities across 39 key indicators of safety, including home and community safety, natural disaster risk, and financial safety

Topping the list as the safest city in the country is Columbia, Maryland, while St. Louis, Missouri is the least safe

Nobody wants to live in an area that isn’t safe, and when picking a neighborhood, safety is probably one of the most important things on a family’s must-have list. It’s no secret that some areas of the country are safer than others, but which ones are the safest out there?

WalletHub has come out with their list of the Safest Cities in America, and they weren’t just looking at crime rates. The site judged 180 cities across 39 key indicators of safety, including home and community safety, which includes things like assaults, thefts and hate crimes per capita, as well as natural disaster risk and financial safety, which includes unemployment and poverty rates, as well as the number of uninsured people in the area.

So with all that, the city deemed the safest in the U.S. is Columbia, Maryland, which scored an 85.98 out of 100, ranking fourth for home and community safety, and in the 30s for financial safety. Meanwhile, Plano, Texas ranks third overall on the list, but they are tops when it comes to home and community safety.

Why does safety always seem to translate to boring?

Was safety an important factor in choosing where you live? How did you know the area was safe?

Did you ever live somewhere that wasn't very safe? Why did you live there? What bad things happened in the area?
