The 2020 Census is exactly one year away from today. Census Bureau Associate Director Tim Olson says it's extremely important for people to participate because it will determine the course of the next decade.

For those who don’t know, the Census counts the number of people living in the U.S. every ten years. That data is used to determine how each state is represented in the U.S. Congress…but it’s also collected is also used to decide how billions of dollars isallocated to states.

Privacy is a common concern for many who consider sharing information with the Census. Olson stressed that all information shared remains confidential and will not be shared with any other agency, including law enforcement.
