It would appear that giving someone the "OK" hand gesture these days could land you in hot water.
The Anti-Defamation League has now released an updated list of things they classify as hate symbols. Included in this list of 37 items is the classic "OK" gesture a person makes with there hands.
It started off as a plan by people on hateful message boards on websites like 4chan, 8chan, and Reddit to "troll" people by claiming the "OK" hand gesture was actually a way to make the letters "WP" with your hand, for "white power."
So it seems that along the way, a lot of white supremacists groups actually adopted the "OK" gesture and started claiming it as there own symbol.
However, the Anti-Defamation League says that it's not 100% considered a hate symbol and that context matters. They say sometimes the "OK" gesture still means what it used to, that something is "OK". But sometimes it's used as a hate symbol.
